Space, the Final Front-Queer
8 Queer Alien Romances to Add to Your TBR
By Raquel Green
I recently dove into the world of Star Trek, where shipping culture and fanfiction as we know it began. I had already read an unhealthy amount of Spock/Kirk fanfiction, and it has been an interesting journey to observe, going from shipping two fictional men in a time where their romance would have never aired, to the amount of queer space romances we have at our fingertips now. So here is a list of some of my favorite queer alienxhuman romances in honor of our Spirk forefathers.
Spire Station Series
For those who yearn for romance aboard the Starship Enterprise, books two and three of the Spire Station series by monster romance icon Emily Antoinette, explore queer romances on a space station filled with unique aliens from all over the galaxy. Space for More is an FFM romance with spy plotlines, second chance angst, and a healthy dose of spice. Space for Growth is an M/NB romance between an alien space pirate and a human looking for love in the galaxy. Both of these stories have a mix of intriguing sci-fi plots, and spicy scenes that keep you on your toes.
Awakened Womb Series
Shockingly, Star Trek got to do mpreg on network TV in 2001 (“Unexpected,” Star Trek Enterprise), and now mpreg is everywhere, even outside of sci-fi media. The Awakened Womb series by shifter romance king Hawke Oakley, focuses on a captain and his crew who land on a strange, but peaceful, undiscovered planet and slowly fall in love (and lust) with the aliens who live there. Each installment focuses on a different crew member and their fluffy, yet spicy love story (all including mpreg in the HEA).
When She's Shy by Ruby Dixon
From the alien romance connoisseur Ruby Dixon, is a sapphic romance about a shy human and the sunshine alien who’s stolen her heart. This is a short novella, but nonetheless a mix of spice, fluff, and yearning that make it the perfect quick read.
The Two Queens of Firixina by Dalia Davies
This sapphic alien romance had me enthralled for its entire 57 pages. While more angsty than many other entries on this list, this novella focused on the fractured relationship between two queens torn apart by the rivalry and politics between their people. It packs a lot of love, yearning, hate, and political intrigue in its short page count, but does so flawlessly. When talking alien romance, it’s a must-read!
Cosmic Heat by Clio Evans
Third in the Galactic Gems series by spice savant Clio Evans, this book is a M/NBi romance between performer Max and alien Moss, who goes into heat after meeting Max. This book is a fated-mates fast-burn like its predecessors in the series, but brings its own charm with the adorable and soft romance Max and Moss share.
