Trends to Try for Main Character Energy
By Courtney Holliday
Finding your personal style and dressing to reflect your personality can be a huge confidence boost! Everyone is exploring their personal style all of the time, and trends can be a fun way to try new things and see what you’re into. They’re like creative prompts to kick your fashion brain into gear. If you’re ever in a style slump, try one of these trends to get things going:
Maximalism
More is more! A great place to start is with accessories. Layering necklaces, statement sunglasses, and bag charms are fun additions. Bring in the unexpected. Add a tie, bold makeup, or more layers. When you would normally stop accessorizing, just keep going. See what your brain will come up with. You can also do this with colors, patterns, and textures.
Breaking the old-fashioned “rules” always gets the creativity flowing. You can wear silver and gold together! Horizontal stripes are not the enemy. White and Labor Day have nothing to do with each other. Black and brown are a clear match. Cheetah print and polka dots are best friends. Anything you were told not to do with fashion is made up. Do it anyway and see how you feel!
Monochrome
Not sure what to wear? Pick a color and go for it. It always makes a statement and gives you that fashionable feeling. This is also a fun way to explore adding color to your wardrobe. If you normally wear all black, try a full red look. You’re still serving monochrome, but stepping out of your comfort zone.
Hats are a slept-on accessory. So many people think that they “look bad in hats.” You don’t! There are so many different styles to choose from. We’re talking flat brims, beanies, berets, western, wide brim, and more. A big plus: You don’t have to fix your hair.
Nothing is more hot-sexy-cool than making a statement. Adding a graphic tee with one of your opinions or interests invites people to know more about you just by seeing your outfit. Communicating through clothes is a fun and creative way to let people know more about you and make your outfit feel more personal.
Occasion Play
When you’re not adhering to a dress code, you can do whatever you want! Graphic tees with blazers, baseball hats with dresses, or track pants with a button-down. This trend feels high fashion and effortless at the same time. Pushing fashion boundaries will always give you more insight into your personal style.
Thanks, all, babes! If you’ve been looking to change up your style, I hope this inspires you!
